General information and properties:
Rosemary cineole essential oil, due to its high concentration of 1.8 cineole (eucalyptol) and alpha-pinene, has confirmed spasmolytic, bronchiodilatory, decongestant, mucolytic, antitussive and antimicrobial properties. 1,8 cineole increases the ciliary motor function of the respiratory tree, stimulating the effective expulsion of mucus. Eucalyptol inhibits inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor TNF-α, interleukin-1β, leukotriene B4, inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase and development of Prostaglandins PGE2. These actions contribute to reducing the inflammatory processes treated by steroids. During a clinical trial, eucalyptol administered in a treatment with prednisolone (a very powerful anti-inflammatory), allowed the dose of this medication to be reduced, thus demonstrating an activity similar to that of steroids in the case of obstructive respiratory pathologies such as asthma; It should be noted that eucalyptol does not have the side effects of steroids. There are creams on the market based on Rosemary essential oil, indicated to relieve muscle pain or pain related to rheumatism. Rosemary cineole essential oil has repeatedly demonstrated its stimulating properties in animals with activation of the sympathetic tone, increase in locomotion and blood pressure, considering it optimal in patients with hypo or hypertension. It causes an increase in heart rate and respiratory rate in men, generating the sensation of feeling more awake, more alert and acting positively on the mood. The presence of 1,8-cineole, camphor, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene and beta-caryophyllene supports the anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties (reversal or alteration of the sensation of pain). The anti-inflammatory activity results from different mechanisms of action that are not fully elucidated; reduction of the activity of cyclooxygenase (Cox) enzymes, inhibition of white blood cell migration, and inhibition of inflammatory mediators. There are 2 studies that show the quality of promoting hair growth.
